Literature Text
Heat, heat
like windows melting,
and the only one who heard
was someone's kid sister,
standing in a blue
shadow, cradling
one hand in the other.
Outside our better selves
are scattering.
Truth carries two black eyes.
Didn't you know
that no one is good
with a swollen face?
We are down to
fingers
tucked inside a
naked pocket too big for
comfort, too small for
escape. And there
is June bursting under
our skin, ripe like
balloons and third trimesters.
Even a world in our mouths
isn't able to hold
what we've tasted
flying away.

Literature
winter has swallowed the world
winter has swallowed the world today,
his blistering fury biting at faces
and speckling tree trunks and window
panes. he disguises all things, provides
a pure slate of marble dust that blankets
every surface. when he finally settles down,
all things settle with him. the pine forest
has become a herd of mammoths, weary branches
quietly sweeping the ground below.
Literature
Harvest Moon
You remind me of the harvest moon
tugging the shore from beneath my feet, of
rowing out to sea in winter with empty nets
till spring, of catching every breath
in crystals on the same forgotten docks,
Where gravity knots my tendons into rope,
my teeth into chalk and ash, and my eyes
into searchlights scanning the horizon
for the first ship that leads to you.
Literature
Yesterday.
You used to show me your
skeleton, the secrets inside
of you, your marrow. You
run, you shut your eyes, now.
You shut your eyes at the color
of the flowers, the leaves, everything
is orange. I am gathering
acorns. I am wearing your mask.

we all want summer to be beautiful
but you can't miss the mosquitoes
and pale
perspiration under our skin
I just want time to stop for a while.
if we didn't have to breathe
if nothing would hurt
for just one minute
we'd be okay again, we are resilient enough
(there was no point for my usual syntax-y style in this one, so I caved in)
